Pearl Laser Treatment—Day by Day Testimonial
Monday November 17, 2008
Today I got the Pearl! Numbing cream was topically applied so it wasn’t too terribly hot. It wasn’t hot all over, just in some areas, and totally tolerable. When the procedure was finished my skin was really pink, felt warm and tingly…kind of like a MicroPeel Plus on my face and I could not wash it off. A little annoying but not bad. My face also had a thick layer of Aquaphor. I would recommend a shirt that doesn’t need to go over your head, a button shirt or camisole. Overall, not too painful and I didn’t look too frightening. Stayed warm and tingly for about 2 hours. It was difficult sleeping on my back and I put on an old pillowcase.

Ok, so sleeping isn’t so fun…on your back with goop all over your face. Put a towel over your pillow and remind yourself that we all should really sleep on our backs, anyway—less wrinkles! I showered and soaked my face in the vinegar and water solution. The solution felt great because I made it ahead of time and left it in the fridge—cool definitely feels good! Day two isn’t terrible, just pink and goopy.
In the evening, I started getting itchy. It wasn’t so terrible while I was up and doing things. It got really annoying when I went to bed. Really just wanted to ITCH my face. I did finally fall asleep for awhile but had to take some Benadryl in the middle of the night. Did not get much sleep but reminded myself that I’m going to love the end result.

Woke up early since I wasn’t sleeping well and was just lying there thinking about my itchy, red face. You know, I’ve had a few cosmetic procedures that had a few days downtime and it never fails that on day two or three you just keep asking yourself “now why did I choose to do this?” and you feel like you are just going to have a meltdown. It’s ok…you can! Just remember it is going to get better and your brown spots, wrinkles, and skin are going to be fabulous. So, today really isn’t fun…I’m really, really itchy and more red and I’m totally over all the goop on my face. But I will survive!

Today is better but still red and I am putting on the goop. I’ll be honest, I tried to not put on Aquaphor and just put on a heavy moisturizer. Within 5-10 minutes my face was so tight it felt like it was going to crack so I put on the Aquaphor! I also realized that the goop kept my face moist and allowed it to peel. If the skin gets dry, it gets confused and does not peel. At our Open House, the Pearl representative told me I was too dry, so I put on more Aquaphor and by the time I got home, my face looked like it had fish scales all over. When I washed my face it all just wiped right off…it was pretty cool! Took some Benadryl and went to bed and slept well.

My skin is beginning to feel like ‘my skin’ again. Today I did apply a heavy moisturizer then a light layer of Aquaphor. Definitely feel like I turned the corner and in the home stretch. I did not apply any makeup…felt it would just make it look worse. I am not itchy anymore and just red in certain areas. My skin feels better and so do I.

Skin is pretty much finished peeling, maybe some small patches. I was able to apply Jane Iredale powder and it covered up the pink that was along my chin and cheeks. My kids said “Mom, your face isn’t red anymore”. I applied a heavy moisturizer in the morning, afternoon, and at bed.

I am not pink and not peeling at all! I started using my Clarisonic brush today and it feels great. It is cleaning up the aftermath of the Aquaphor. My skin does feel a little dry and I use Phloretin (which is very healing) and a heavier moisturizer.

One week out and still a little dry. I love using the Clarisonic brush, it really feels like it is gently removing all the goop off my face. I started using my Hydroquinone today.

I am so glad that I had the Pearl procedure done. Over the holidays I saw so many people. The people that see me often and the ones that I only see once a year, all told me that my skin looked amazing. Even those who didn’t know that I had it done told me that something was different that made me look young and refreshed. I am very happy with the tone of my skin. I feel like I have a whole new complexion. I know it sounds cliché, but some people actually tell me that my skin is glowing.

Pearl Laser Treatment—Day by Day Testimonial
This testimonial is by one of our own staff, Jacci at the front desk! Feel free to ask her any questions about the procedure.
December 1, 2008
I received the Pearl Treatment. I would describe the 45 minute procedure as “ok, a bit tough on the second pass of the forehead”. I took two Ibuprofren after the treatment, mainly because it was warm and I thought it would help with the swelling. That evening I had a glass of wine with dinner and took a Benadryl to help with sleeping. The Aquafor felt great. (I found it helpful to have a soft towel on the top pillow and propped pillows around my sides to keep me from rolling on my sides.)
Day 1: Slept fine, the hardest for me was the sleeping on my back. I showered and did the vinegar soak. I also would spray the Thermal Spring Water on prior to applying the Aquafor, it just felt good. Off to work.
I did take a dose of Ibuprofren, my face was feeling rather warm. (By the way, I’m 59 and do frequently feel warm). My second evening I did not take Benadryl, but did have 2 glasses of wine with dinner. Slept great.
Day 2: Noticed face was beginning to turn slightly brown, not so red. (Most discomfort are the looks from the general public!) All clients were interested in the procedure and I handed out Pearl brochures.
Had a full day and dinner with Mother, no wine. Slept great.
Day 3: Face a little more brown and less red, feels like the skin is stretched. That evening, skin began flaking and coming off while I washed. Skin did not feel so stretched.
Day 4: Lots of flaky skin, face looked a little blotchy. That night it looked so much smoother after cleansing and using the vinegar wash, used lots of Aquafor.
Day 5: My skin is really looking smoother, but still red and blotchy. I used the Clarisonic brush which really helped smooth the skin. I used the TNS Essential Serum after cleansing, prior to the Aquafor. That evening I went out to a social event for a few hours and wore some mineral makeup. Came home, cleansed and used the TNS and Aquafor.
Day 6: Since it was Sunday and I was cleaning, I used the Aquafor during the day. After my shower I used the Clarisonic Brush, the TNS serum and a moisturizer. No more Aquafor. My skin feels so smooth and it looks better and better.

It has been one month since receiving the Pearl Treatment. I love the look and feel of my face. The brown spots continue to lighten and I notice my laugh lines are less pronounced. Every day I notice the softer texture to my skin. I highly recommend the Pearl.

Sclerotherapy Success Story
I have had these ugly spider veins on my legs since the 8th grade. After having them injected, a process called sclerotherapy, I wonder why I waited so long to have them done.
I will admit that I was afraid in the beginning but it wasn’t all that bad. I went in and the nurse stuck me with the tiniest of needles and put this solution into my veins. At first I didn’t want to look but then she talked me into watching. I couldn’t believe my eyes! They just disappeared right before me. It burned a little but the sticks really weren’t that bad, and when I saw them go away it made it all worth it.
Now the bad news about this procedure, you must wear these crazy tight support stockings for a week. I must admit it, I cheated on the last day. You really want to do this in the fall/winter/spring because summer is just too hot to wear the hose, but I survived. Also, sometimes stubborn veins take several treatments to get them to completely disappear.
I’m so happy that I did this because it is the first time in 43 years that I am going to wear shorts this summer. Yeah!

Permanent Make-up Lips Success Story
I recently had permanent make-up on my lips done with Emily. First we picked out the color that I liked. I tried to pick something that I knew I would be happy with everyday. I went with a “brick red” and Emily agreed that it would look good with my hair and complexion. Then the nurse came in and anesthetized my lip area. It was just like getting a shot at the dentist (although I must say she was much more gentle than my dentist!). As a side note, I have to add something about how crazy the shot made me feel…it was like I drank a pot of coffee. My heart was racing and I was a little jittery. The nurse told me that it would have a similar effect as diet pills, but I had never taken them, so I didn’t get it until it happened. But it didn’t last that long, and soon I became very comfortable. I could not feel any of the procedure at all. It was actually funny, because a couple of times I thought she was working on the top lip, but she was actually working on the bottom or vice/versa.
Emily was very meticulous and made sure that the lines were perfect. And now my lips are the perfect shape. They are symmetrical and they even look better than when I used to put lipstick on myself. Now all I have to wear is gloss or chapstick or nothing at all and I still look great. I never look pale or washed out like I could sometimes before when I didn’t wear any make-up. I am now considering getting the eyeliner done.
The healing process was a little annoying. My lips were enormous! I looked like I had an augmentation. And the color was really really bright. Of course, my plumber came the day I had the procedure done and I apologized for looking like a “lady of evening”, but he assured me that I looked great and even gave me a discount. A little uncomfortable, but the discount was worth it!!
It took about a week for all of the swelling and brightness to go away, and it wasn’t really too bad after the first day or two. So the end result is that I love my lips (and so does my husband…and the plumber…and the mailman…). The color is not actually what I asked for. They told me beforehand that the resulting color would possibly be a bit different, so I was not too surprised. So the actual color is a reddish purple, but I still really love it and I have received a lot of compliments on the color.
Ps. When I told Emily that I would write a testimonial I promised her I would add a note from her: “keep your lips moist and wipe them, but don’t pick at them or you will remove the pigment!!”

Botox Success Story
I really never thought that I’d be the type (is there a type?) of person to get Botox but let me tell you about my experience.
At age 56, I “suddenly” became more conscious of my wrinkles (right before my daughter’s wedding coincidentally!), so I decided to try it to see if it made any difference. Wow what a difference it made! When I got it, there was just a little prick and burn but it went away immediately. Then nothing. Over the next 3 days to 3 weeks, my face was transformed. My brows lifted, eyelids improved and frown lines lessened. Even my mood improved. I was amazed at how it softened my face and took off the years.
Now at 59, I feel like I’m not nearly as aged as I would have been if I had never gotten it. Botox really does stop the clock! I’ve now told my family not to buy me any birthday or Christmas gifts because all I want for a gift are Kathy Jones Skin Care gift certificates so I can get more Botox. I know to those of you who have not tried it, it may sound silly, but just try it and you will say the same thing.
